As a Cleveland children and family photographer, I always try to find the most unique photo props for my clients. When I heard about Bump to Bows Show in Cleveland that specialized for handmade items for moms and kids, I know this is one of the event that I have to come visit! Each show will feature anywhere from 50-100 handmade vendors and it’s not just items for moms! There are variety of Cleveland local vendor that make this event the perfect spot for gift shopping!

Becki Silverstein & Sarah Pozek are the founders of Bump to Bows Event. Becki has been in the arts/craft show business since January 2011, Sarah since this past year.

I am very excited to photograph these two beautiful ladies. We met at The Flats in downtown Cleveland for the photo shoots. The beautiful bridges and Cleveland buildings are the perfect backdrop for this 60 minutes lifestyle portrait session.

The founders, Sarah Pozek and Becki Silverstein came up with the concept when they realized that there was a void in the Cleveland handmade space for events that target little ones and their parents.“We’ve been friends since college and both have always had an entrepreneurial spirit, so we wanted to start a business together,” explained Pozek. “What started as a project for my MBA degree at Baldwin Wallace actually grew into a full-fledged business plan with Becki. Her experience in putting on artisans events all over Ohio was the perfect match to get the show off the ground. We quickly filled the show in less than three months, so we knew we were on to something!”Silverstein in addition to the Bump to Bows Shows, is also the owner/founder of the Avant-Garde Art & Craft Shows, a collection of indie-inspired handmade artisan and craft events that travel all over Ohio. “I knew that Sarah wanted to launch a business, and one day we sat over dinner and were brainstorming about what there was a need for in the market,” explains Silverstein who founded the Avant-Garde Shows in 2011. “Working with over 3,000 vendors, I knew that the childrens market was one that a lot of moms, dads, grandparents etc. were always flocking to at my shows. I’d usually have 3-4 children-oriented vendors per event at the Avant-Garde shows, but not an entire event catered just to that demographic. That’s when the light bulb went off for us, and Bump to Bows was created! There is definitely a niche market here, and instead of looking to shop online to purchase these custom goods, we felt that bringing it all in one space to shop in person was a great idea!”

Sarah actually came up with the name, we were brainstorming together. We wanted it to be something to be cute, but also encompassed what the show was as a whole. That’s where Bump to Bows- A Mommy Boutique came from. It covers little ones all the way from maternity to childhood, and our target audience is moms, so a mommy boutique fully explains what the event is, should anyone be confused. In addition naming it a boutique gave it that upscale unique flair. We want guests to the show to know that this is a boutique-like experience. Everything is made with love and care and has that boutique flair to it.

We feel that the Bump to Bows Show- A Mommy Boutique is impotant to customers because a lot of families are looking for products beyond the big-box stores. Many times, they have to turn to Etsy to get these premium products, when really, we have a lot of talented artisans/crafters and businesses right here in Northeast Ohio. We make shopping for these products simple and a fun experience. Families can go to one of our shows around Northeast Ohio and expect a one-stop-shop for all their needs, meet other families and also follow the show line as their children grow. Since the show covers all ages, it may cover one parent’s needs from maternity to pre-teen, or when they decide to expand their family! In addition, not only does it help the customers, but it also helps our local economy by supporting local businesses too!

In five years it’s our goal to build out this show to cover various parts of Northeast Ohio. We’d love to get a steady flow of vendors and customers who are repeat. We’d love our reputation to be known as the first-ever traveling mommy boutique in the Northeast Ohio area. We really want to claim this niche market space as the go-to event for our audience. We’re so excited to do it together and see not only the business grow, but our little customers throughout the years as they get older!
